Current PTA Positions
Council Delegate: Kristine Evans
Attends all council general meetings or see that a duly elected [or appointed] alternate is able to attend; attends all meetings of the local PTA unit; represents the local unit as a voting member of the council body; participates fully in council discussions and deliberations. Each delegate (or alternate, if the delegate is not in attendance) is entitled to make motions, debate and vote at the council meeting; maintains a procedure book; takes careful notes of announcements and the programs at the council meeting; reports announcements, important actions and the council program to the local association and/or its executive board; places
announcements of council activities in the local unit’s newsletter; seeks information or approval from the local association on matters referred to the local unit and is ready to report and/or vote accordingly at the council meeting; and notify local unit board members of the next council meeting and urge them to attend as well.

Historian: Open
Collects and preserves documents relating the history of the association and compiles and keeps a record of events and activities to be presented as the official history to the general body for adoption at the annual meeting.
Parliamentarian: Elaine O'Quinn
Advises the presiding officer on questions of parliamentary procedure and votes only when the vote is by ballot.
Box Tops/Clippers: OPEN
Coordinates the donation of education equipment from participating organizations by collecting and exchanging labels from specific products.
Hospitality: Irena Daniels
Creates a feeling of friendliness and warmth at each PTA meeting by providing greeters, registration sheets, refreshments, and serving arrangements; cooperates with Mesquite ISD Council of PTAs when called upon; is responsible for hospitality equipment of the association; and plans and supervises all social functions of the association.
Newsletter: OPEN
Compiles & distributes the monthly newsletter.
Health: Open
Develops programs and projects that will enhance the beauty of the school and community; promotes environmental education; publicizes and promotes student participation in Texas PTA Beautification Award and Texas PTA/TACB/TWC/EPA Environmental Poster Contest.
Parent Ed: Open
Promotes parent education through study courses, various parent-teacher committees, and other community organizations and agencies.
Room Representative: Judy Synder
Serves as spokesman for selected room representatives and their assistants for each classroom; coordinates all party plans; and works cooperatively with the chairman of Volunteer Services in the coordination of activities
Spiritual: Open
Promotes the development of moral and spiritual values, good character traits, and citizenship education
Teacher Representative:
Acts as the liaison between faculty and the executive board.
Public Relations: Open
Sends announcements and news items to the local paper, works with all executive board chairmen on any projects inquiring publicity; and reports outstanding meetings and achievements to the state and National PTA publications.
Arts in Education: Open
Plans and implements programs for students and parents emphasizing the many cultural experiences that can enrich lives; encourages creativity stressing the need for Arts in Education programs in the school; encourages participation in the National PTA “Reflections” program; informs students of the rules of the program; sends chosen work to the Mesquite ISD Council of PTAs program; and assures that the winners are announced at school and the PTA meetings.
Environmental: Open
Develops programs and projects that will enhance the beauty of the school and community; promotes environmental education; publicizes and promotes student participation in Texas PTA Beautification Award and Texas PTA/TACB/TWC/EPA Environmental Poster Contest.
Inclusiveness: Open
Promotes and encourages the broadest representation of all families and teachers irrespective of color, creed, or condition; sets initiatives that explore and enhance common values that emphasize interdependence, equality, and the sanctity of each individual’s dignity; and serves to further unify the vision and the principle of unity and diversity
Legislative: Open
Keeps the organization informed of legislation concerning the education and protection of children and youth.
Volunteer Services: Open
Coordinates PTA volunteer activities in the school in cooperation with the school staff; encourages participation by parents and interested citizens in the school program through volunteerism; encourages participation in TEPSA Volunteer Award; and works cooperatively with the Room Representative Coordinator
Directory: Open
Compiles information for the PTA directory; completes the directory and presents it to the executive board at their November
meeting; sends copies of the directory to the Tenth District PTA president, Mesquite ISD Council of PTAs president and the Tenth District PTA Yearbook chairman by the appropriate deadline
